Politics for the common good.
Welcome to our online home. We are the corporate entity for political strategist Jacob Lupfer and his network of associates, vendors, and independent contractors. Headquartered near Baltimore, the Relay Group works with clients and partners from coast to coast. Our firm is designed for people who want to change the system rather than profit from it. If you could be served by a typical Republican or Democratic consultant, we are not the firm for you.
Explore our core issues and areas of expertise. Get in touch with us to set up a consultation, or use the contact form at the bottom of this page to begin considering whether our services are a match for your goals to reform our broken politics.
A functional political order requires basic commitments to ethics, norms, and constitutional imperatives like checks and balances, separation of powers, and the rule of law. We partner with candidates, organizations, and donors that promote good-government platforms and reforms.
Money in Politics
We break with most reform advocates on some issues of money in politics. Rather than seeing it as inherently corrupting, we focus on the good that money can do for our issues, candidates, and advocacy. We work within current campaign-finance frameworks to maximize effectiveness.
Breaking the Duopoly
The two major parties and the zero-sum competition between them are not serving the country well at all. Whether they are driving polarization or merely thriving off it, they are leaving too many Americans — including their own voters — without good representation or choices.
Both parties’ platforms bisect the common good. Many of our clients and partners promote fiscal responsibility and social tolerance, both of which we affirm. However, we have a special interest in another kind of politics: We want to see a pro-family, pro-solidarity, pro-life platform succeed.
Voting is sacrosanct in a democratic system. We support reforms that give voters more access, more choices, and better representation: Open primaries, ranked choice voting, etc. So much of our clients’ and partners’ success will depend on progress in this area, and we are always working on it.
Freedom of Religion or Belief
The Bill of Rights’ “first freedom” is in constant need of defense, in the U.S. and around the world. Unlike partisans’ selective advocacy, we take this principle seriously and apply it consistently: To the greatest degree possible, the state should not compel people against their consciences.
